Synopsis
Historical thriller that charts the fortunes of the future Charles II in the immediate aftermath of his father's defeat. After the execution of his father, the young Charles flees England. Over the course of a 40-day journey, he must learn how to live rough, evade capture and earn the kindness of strangers.

A new play by Ian Curteis is always an exciting prospect, and this breathless man-on-the-run thriller doesn't disappoint. The man in question is Charles II, fleeing bloodthirsty Parliamentarian forces after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester, two years after his father was executed. Simon Woods subtly captures the shifts in Charles's personality as he dashes across hostile territory. Hoping to reach safety in France, and Chris Larkin lords it up as the prince's pompous friend, Wilmot.
