About the DMAP Encyclopaedia

This website is a complete, easy-to-read reference guide to the work of Dirk Maggs. Dirk Maggs is an award-winning director, writer and producer who invented a brand-new way of making audio stories called the “Audio Movie™” style. These are high-quality audio dramas that sound so real and exciting they feel like movies playing inside your ears.

The whole site is created, looked after and paid for by David Williams. It is a special resource for fans and anyone who wants to research top-quality audio dramas (the kind you listen to with crystal-clear sound).

Site History & Development

The DMAP Encyclopaedia has grown and improved in two main stages:

Phase One (January 2017)

The very first version was a simple website built completely by hand in early 2017. It grew quickly and reached its first big milestone — 100 articles — on 27 February 2017.

Phase Two (October 2020 – Present)

By 2020 the original site had become hard to manage as it kept growing. So in October 2020 we started again from scratch using MediaWiki (the same free software that powers Wikipedia). This made everything much easier to organise, update and connect with links.

As of 2026, the wiki now contains over 275 articles. These include detailed pages on more than 260 productions plus nearly 1,000 extra supporting articles.

Disclaimers
