Synopsis

Roy and Shelley's marriage is falling apart (she is a hairdresser with wandering hands, he works - just about - at the local Job Centre). But then Roy discovers that his much-loved tortoise,

Merlin, is not only on the brink of death but is in fact a girl. The passion he lacks for his marriage is directed at restoring Merlin's will to live, and - in the process - his own.
